Why is the DNB involved and what role have they played in this acquisition?

The DNB (De Nederlandsche Bank) is the central bank of the Netherlands and, along with the AFM (Autoriteit Financiële Markten), the regulator for financial institutions. The DNB supervises providers of services for exchanging virtual currencies against fiduciary currencies and providers of custodial wallets, such asBCM. In this capacity, BCM is also registered with DNB for both services.

For several changes listed in the Dutch law, it is required to inform DNB or to ask for permission. Obtaining permission from DNB is required, among other things, in the case of an acquisition. We are pleased to announce that we now have this permission from DNB, which we believe is an important milestone. This approval ensures that Kraken continues to comply (and can keep complying) with its obligations, even after the acquisition
